On Writing

We read because we want to experience life without necessarily having to go get  the real bumps and bruises. The characters get those.  We read because we want to get away from real life, and take a break for a while. We don’t relax enough, do we?  And, sometimes we read because we just want to fall asleep.

Writing is an escape. Writing is a gift too. Writing is a way to share what my world looks like with you. I say my world, but really I mean the perspective of my characters. The characters I write about are born out of my experiences, and people I have met. They can be created from a simple phrase I overheard once, a glance I caught between two people, or a sequence of events that I happened to experience one day. All of that, with my spin on it – my interpretation.

We read because we want to experience. I write because I want you to feel life, and all that my imagination can bring with it.
